Certain USCIS Deadlines Extended

|

Responding to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and acknowledging the difficulties which may be faced by applicants in meeting certain deadlines, USCIS has again extended some deadlines.

The USCIS deadline extension notice says that USCIS will accept a response received within 60 calendar days after the due date listed in the request or notice. This applies only to requests or notices issued by USCIS between March 1 and Sept 11, 2020. https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/uscis-response-covid-19

The 60-day extension applies to:

Requests for Evidence (RFE)

Continuances to Request Evidence (N-14)

Notices of Intent to Deny (NOID)

Notice of Intent to Revoke (NOIR)

Notice of Intent to Terminate (NOIT)

This extension policy also extends deadlines to file an appeal of a decision, or to request a hearing in denied naturalization cases.

Form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion, for a denial issued between March 1 and September 11, 2020, may now be received by USCIS 60 days after the issuance date.

Form N-336, Request for a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings, for a U.S. citizenship application denial issued between March 1 and September 11, 2020, may now be received by USCIS 60 days after the issuance date.

It is important to know that these response deadlines only apply in the above listed scenarios as of the date of the writing of this entry, and do not apply to other USCIS imposed deadlines.
