Many foreign nationals may qualify for a Florida Drivers License or Florida Identification card if they are able to provide specific documents to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). For example, persons with pending U-visa applications, applications for adjustment of status, persons with valid tourist visas, and even people who have an upcoming hearing, can apply for a Drivers License in Florida. Every few months, the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) publishes the acceptable documents table listing the types of immigration documents that should be provided to obtain a license or ID card. In addition to the correct immigration document, an applicant will also need to provide proof of identity – usually a passport from their home country, evidence of their social security card (even if marked “valid with work authorization only”) or evidence they were never issued a social, and two proofs of residential address. The applicant must also pass rules of the road exam and driving test. Be safe out there!
